Beginning
A group of Retirees from Educational sector along with some active members of the same profession were invited by Mr. P C Seneviratne (Retired Deputy Director General of Education) for an evening at his residence during mid year1995. During the discussion held at this session Mr. Seneviratne elaborated on the importance of having periodical assemblies of this nature mainly among the retirees. Unanimous conclusion of the group on the expression of Mr. Seneviratne resulted in the formation of Gampaha Gaweshi Sahurdha Sansadhaya on the 17th of June 1995 at No 04, Courts Lane, Gampaha.

To share experiences and achievements for the benefit of members and associates. To perform humanitarian services to the downtrodden masses together through the organization.
Growth
Rapid growth of membership was experienced in the following years after the inauguration of Sansadhaya. People from all walks of life, mainly retired and active, joined to enhance the membership. Sansadhaya received registration as a voluntary organization in the Divisional Secretariat of Gampaha at this stage.
Progress and Golden Memories
Membership meetings were scheduled monthly on a Sunday and held at the residence of Hon. Secretary during many years since the inception. Mr. Senevirathne always offered the venue for the meetings and enjoyed treating the members with Tea and Wade. With the growth of membership numbers meetings were scheduled at residences of other members with the participation of families and the fellowship sequel to the end of meetings were extended to Dinner.
Reformation of Rational and Principles
Prolonged activities repeated on same objectives and principles over a long period had set upon monotonous routing and at times caused deviation of basic objectives and principles by some of the members. As a result disruption to standard practices were observed. Timely intervention by the majority membership on this instance has saved the organization from falling apart. However the membership realized the need to make changes to Objectives and Principles in keeping up with current world trends. Rational and the Principles needed to be reformed to accommodate professionals and Visionaries. In 2019 reforms were undertaken on a wide spectrum of Objectives and commenced promoting the membership among Professionals and Intellectuals of different walks of life living around Gampaha. Gaweshi Sahurdha Sansadhaya is roaming from strength to strength under the current reforms undertaken.
